Job Description

 

Role and Responsibilities:

Perform the duties required to monitor implementation of defined curriculum, assess effectiveness of curriculum and make adjustments as needed: provide professional development as it pertains to curriculum and instructions.

 

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

 

  • Prescribe Head Start curriculum for centers and home-based programs to ensure compliance with Program Standards.
  • Provide training, research and implementation for curriculum for centers and home-based programs.
  • In conjunction with Center Managers and teachers, ensure student outcomes are being met and develop alternate curriculum when outcomes are not being met.
  • Plan and conduct pre and in-service training/teaching for teachers on topics such as working with young children, curriculum, working with parents, crisis intervention, child behavior and guidance.
  • Coordinate training on other topics for assigned teachers.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with staff from area colleges and universities, as needed.
  • Visit Head Start sites periodically to observe in the classroom to ensure curriculum implementation is up to standard.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Update educational policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain linkages with public school districts and other early childhood programs as needed.
  • Maintain open communications with Center Managers regarding curriculum issues.
  • Periodically review teachers’ lesson plans.
  • Continue professional growth by participating in training programs and workshops/conferences.
  • Manage educational grants as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Education Requirements:

Requires Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education

Experience:

  • 2 years classroom experience in an early childhood setting
  • 1year experience operating a Head Start Classroom
  • 1 year experience teaching and/or  training adults in Early Childhood Education
